NOW WITH THE OFFSHORE SEASON IS IN FULL SWING AND THE CANYONS ARE READY TO TURN ON AT ANY MOMENT AND MOST OF US WERE BLESS THAT BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY DURING THE CLUBS FIRST ANNUAL "BLESSING OF THE FLEET.

I WAS THINKING OF THE WALLY OAKLAND'S MAKO/THRESHER TOURNAMENT.
GREAT FISH WEIGHED IN MAKO'S IN THE 200'S 300'S AND EVEN 400'S POUND RANGE . CAN'T FORGET THE THRESHERS LIKE CLUB MEMBER ROB MALONEY'S FISH WEIGHING IN @ 433LBS HARD TO BEAT I'D SAY BUT NOOOOO THAT WAS 3RD. PLACE AND 1ST. OVER 500LBS.

A GREAT DAY ALL AROUND!

WHAT I HAVE HEARD BLUEFIN TUNA NOT QUITE READY TO SHOW UP AROUND THE AREAS OF THE COIMBRA. BUT YESTERDAY BOARD MEMBER GARRETT MOORE LEAVES THE INLET ON A 1976 23' SEACRAFT NO ELECTRONICS (WHICH HE BORROWED) HEADS OFFSHORE W/LI FISHERMAN'S CAPT. JOHN RAGUSSO TROLLS UP A NICE BLUEFIN AND NOT FAR OFF THE BEACH BY THE WAY. THEN USES SOME OF ITS INSIDES TO CATCH A 291 MAKO. HOLLY CRAPPERS!! NICE JOB GARRETT AND JOHN!!

HEY, IF THERE IS BAIT FISH WILL SHOW.
OVER THE WEEKEND SOME FRIENDS HEADED OUT TO THE DIP FOR A SHAKE DOWN TRIP AND HAD SOME MAHI WITH A NICE BULL OVER 20LBS. NO TUNA BUT THE GUYS THAT WERE THERE A FIRST LIGHT HAD FISH. 5 YELLOWFINS WERE LANDED JUST EAST OF THE TAILS OVER THE WEEKEND SO FISH ARE HERE IT WILL ONLY GET BETTER.

CONGRATULATIONS TO JOHN HALEY FOR WINNING OUR INSHORE TOURNAMENT HELD ALL OF LAST WEEK. NOW WE ALL KNOW HE CATCHES FISH NOT ONLY OFFSHORE BUT INSHORE AS WELL. I HEARD HE IS BLOWING OFF THE OVER NIGHT CATEGORY IN THE HOI IN AUGUST AND DOING DAY CATEGORY.. haha.

SOME MEMBERS ARE ENJOYING GREAT STRIPED BASS FISHING JUST OFF THE BEACH UNDER THE BUNKER PODS. FIND THEM AND HAVE SOME FUN. LOOK OUT FOR THAT THRESHER SWIMMING WITH THE FISHES. THIS FRIDAY IS THE 4TH THE BIG ONE.. IN THE PAST IT WAS THE CLUBS BIG TOURNAMENT WITH WHITE MARLIN BEING THE PRIZE. WE STARTED TROLLING JUST A FEW MILES OUT WITH THE 20-25FATHOM BEING THE AREA MOSTLY TROLLED OF COARSE BLUEFINS WERE JUMPING ALL OVER THE PLACE AND A SWORDFISH WAS SPOTTED FINING ON THE SURFACE.

SO GET OUT THERE AND WET SOME LINES..

TIGHT LINE EVERYBODY!
